HANOVER, N.H. – The Vermont men earned a second-place finish, while the women grabbed fourth place on Friday at the Dartmouth Relays. The host Big Green men had 114 points and the women tallied 211 points to both win their meet.

COACH'S QUOTE
"Overall, I'm quite happy with the meet," said associate head coach 
Joe Gingras. "We had some outstanding performances on the track with 
John Benner leading the way by winning the mile and helping to get the 4x800 meter victory. For the women, it was a strong day in the mile and 3000 meter.

HOW IT HAPPENED
	- Benner (4:12.80), Luke Petela (4:13.86), and Chris Gish (4:13.88) swept the top three spots in the men's mile for a combined 24 points.
 
	- Gish, Benner, Tyler Marshall, and Andrew Crompton were victorious in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 7:53.20.
 
	- Neville Caulfield was the top collegiate finisher in the men's 3000 meter run. He registered a time of 8:31.36 for 10 points and second place overall. Matt Hynes grabbed eight points for the Catamounts with a fourth-place finish and a time of 8:32.96.
 
	- Jane Leighton finished third in the women's mile with a personal-best time of 5:06.56. Caroline O'Shea finished immediately after with a time of 5:09.16.
 
	- Leighton, O'Shea, Annemarie Martell, and Alicia Tebeau-Sherry recorded a runner-up finish in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 9:47.55.
 
	- Koski (10:02.18), Wendeln (10:04.45), and Sogoloff (10:05.44) finished second through fourth in the women's 3000 meter run, each with personal records. The UVM trio picked up a combined 18 points.
 
	- Trevor Nassar, Alex Parasky, Alex Warner, and Justin Liechty took second in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:22.65. The quartet finished only 0.63 seconds behind first place.
 
	- Andy Chess cleared 4.40 meters in the pole vault to finish in second place while taking 10 points for the Catamounts.
 
	- Jasper Reed nabbed eight points in the triple jump with a leap of 13.61 meters.
 
NOTES
	- Benner (mile), Petela mile), Gish (mile), Marshall (mile), Caulfield (3000m), and Hynes (3000m) registered qualifying marks for the New England Championships as well as the ECAC/IC4A Championships. Shane O'Connor had an NEICAAA Qualifying mark in the shot put (14.89m)
 
	- Leighton (mile), Koski (3000m), Wendeln (3000m), Sogoloff (3000m), and Triarsi (60m hurdles, 9.25s) qualified for the New England Championships.
 
UP NEXT
The Catamounts make the short trip down Route 7 on Saturday (Jan. 18) for the Middlebury Winterfell. The annual meet hosted by Middlebury College begins at 11 a.m.
