MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Vermont men's and women's track & field teams both earned victories on Saturday at the Middlebury Winterfell. The men tallied 263 points while the women posted 185.5 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- O'Connor registered a victory in the shot put with a distance of 14.95 meters. The senior also finished second in the weight throw with a personal-best 15.01 meter toss.
- Koski won the mile with a personal-best time of 4:59.52 and ran a leg on the winning 4x800 meter relay team.
- John Benner (2:28.24), Tyler Marshall (2:29.62), and Bill Comstock (2:30.09) swept the top three spots in the 1000 meter run. Benner's winning time was also a personal record.
- Marina Cannon registered a victory in the pole vault with a leap of 3.35 meters.
- Justin Liechty (7.19s), Chike Asanya (7.29s), Trey Poquette (7.38s), and Trevor Nassar (7.42s) took the top four spots in the 60 meter dash.
- A pair of Catamounts won the 60 meter hurdles with Lauren Triarsi registering a time of 9.21 seconds on the women's side and Alex Parasky finishing in 8.94 seconds in the men's competition.
- Alex Warner (50.82s) won the men's 400 meter dash and Alex May Curtis (59.17s) took the victory in the women's 400.
- Jane Leighton grabbed a win in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:00.50.
- Neville Caulfield took first-place in the mile with a time of 4:15.93
- Dina John (2:19.90) and Caroline O'Shea (2:20.64) took the first two spots in the 400 meter dash.
- Sydney Decker recorded her first individual victory with a time of 11:03.56 in the 3000 meter run. Luke Petela got the win in the men's 3000 with a time of 8:35.93.
NOTES
- Koski (mile), Caulfield (mile), Benner (1000m), Marshall (1000m), and Comstock (1000m) ran qualifying marks for the New England Championships and the ECAC/IC4A Championships.
- John (400m), Leighton (1000m), Triarsi (60H), Liechty (60m), Petela (3000m), and O'Connor (shot put) also qualified for the New England Championships.
- With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to Make-A-Wish Vermont, bringing the 2020 total to ten wins totaling $1,000. Vermont splits up into meets at Boston University, Middlebury, and New Hampshire next week. The Catamounts will be competing in the two-day Terrier Invite at BU, beginning on Friday (Jan. 24). On Saturday (Jan. 25), UVM will continue the Terrier Invite while also sending groups to the Middlebury Invitational and UNH.
