CRYMBLE STARRING AS A SENIOR
On Monday
Hanna Crymble became the first Catamount to earn America East Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks since Courtnay Pilypaitis '10 in the February of 2010.
In conference play she currently leads America East in points per game (19.6), rebounds per game (10.0) and blocked shots (10).
After scoring 14 points on Saturday Crymble needs 20 points to tie Aaron Yantzi '04 for seventh place all-time at UVM in scoring with 1,592 points. Crymble is one of just eight Catamounts all-time to score 1,500 points.
FAB FRESHMEN FACEOFF
Wednesday night's tilt features two of the top freshmen in America East. Maine's Anne Simon and Vermont's
Emma Utterback have each been named America East Rookie of the Week three times this season. In six league games Simon is averaging 15.8 PPG, while in five games Utterback is averaging 11.8 PPG.
BLOCK PARTY
The Catamounts lead America East in blocks with 83. They are also tied for 38th in the NCAA.
Hanna Crymble is the individual leader in America East with 37 blocks this season, which is tied for 33rd in Division I. Crymble had 38 blocks over the last two seasons combined.
SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS
Coming off of back-to-back losses, the Black Bears are 3-3 in America East play. Maine's well-balanced offense features four starters that average over 9.0 points-per-game. Their current lineup is paced by Anne Simon at 11.3 points-per-game. They are led on the glass by junior forward Maeve Carroll, who grabs 7.2 rebounds-per-game.
Maine is fifth in the conference in both scoring offense and scoring defense. The Black Bears have the second highest free throw percentage in the league at 74%. Maddy McVicar has made 24 of her 25 free throws and is one of six Black Bears that makes over 75% of her attempts.
The Black Bears are notably without returning America East player of the year Blanca Millan. She averaged 18.2 points-per-game before suffering a season ending injury in December.
SERIES HISTORY
Wednesday night will be the 88th meeting between the Catamounts and Black Bears. Maine has won each of the last five games, and leads the all-time series 54-33. Vermont's last win was a 55-52 victory at home in 2017.
Last year's games were both decided in the second half. In January, Maine went on a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter to rally from behind and defeat Vermont 63-51. In Bangor later that year, the first place Black Bears hit eight three-pointers in the second half to seal a 66-45 win.
CATHY INGLESE PATCHES
This season the Catamounts are wearing jersey patches to honor our former Head Coach Cathy Inglese. Inglese was the head coach at Vermont for seven seasons, from 1986 to 1993. She led UVM to unprecedented success with its first two conference titles, in 1992 and 1993, and its first two trips to the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.
These patches will be worn at home and on the road this season to honor the memory of Coach Inglese who tragically passed away this summer.
