Eleven Catamounts will compete in the 2020 ECAC Championships held this weekend at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

The ECAC Championships begin on Friday (Feb. 28) and continue through Sunday (Mar. 1) at Lejeune Hall on Navy's campus.

2020 ECAC CHAMPIONSHIP
Eleven swimmers from all four classes will represent the University of Vermont at the 2020 ECAC Championship. The Catamounts will compete in a total of 33 individual events over the weekend.

Sophia Smith is the lone senior competitor. She will race in the 200 fly, 200 free, and 500 free. The junior class is represented by
Katie Rivers (100 fly, 200 fly) and
Madeleine Kovacs (100 free, 200 free, 500 free).

Sophomore
Kira Parker will compete in the 100 free, 100 back, and 200 back.

Seven freshmen will compete in the championship:
Savannah Buch (100 fly, 100 breast, 200 fly, 1650 free),
Cailin Campbell (100 free, 200 free, 200 IM),
Sarah Doherty (50 free, 100 free, 100 back, 200 back),
Beth Hartog (200 free, 200 IM, 200 back),
Peyton McNulty (50 free, 100 back, 200 back),
Katherine Morrissey (100 fly, 200 fly), and
Jenny O'Neil (100 fly, 100 breast, 200 IM).

Smith, Kovacs, Doherty, and O'Neil will represent UVM in the 400 medley relay.

The preliminary heats are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday with finals beginning at 6 p.m. both days. On Sunday, prelims will begin at 9 a.m. with the finals scheduled for 4 p.m.

LAST TRIP TO THE ECACs
Vermont made its last trip to the ECAC Championship in 2015, finishing seventh of 22 teams with 256 points.

Vermont's relay teams shined in the championship as the 200 medley relay team finished second with the 200 and 400 free relay teams both placing third.

Shannon Cowley '18 set a pair of UVM records to finish fourth in the 100 breast and fifth in the 200 breast.

Vermont passed Binghamton in the final day of competition to claim third place at the 2020 America East Championship for the eighth-straight season.

The 200 free relay team of
Sierra Sexton,
Vivian Nguyen,
Isabelle Magbie, and
Kira Parker won the event to earn All-Conference honors.
Â
In addition to the relay team, Sexton earned All-Conference honors in the 50 free and
Emily Murphy earned All-Conference honors on the three-meter board.
