BOSTON – John Benner shattered the UVM indoor 3000 meter record to headline Sunday afternoon for Vermont track & field at the ECAC & IC4A Championships. The Catamount men finished 14th with 15 points while the women placed 29th with six points. Sunday's meet concludes the indoor season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Benner's record-setting 3000 meter run came in 8:13.47. The senior eclipsed the previous record by nearly five seconds and finished seventh in the event.
- The men's distance medley relay team of Steven O'Driscoll, Justin Liechty, Patrick Kitchen, and Chris Gish finished third with a time of 9:57.63.
- The women's distance medley relay team finished seventh with Jane Leighton, Mia Grasso, Annemarie Martell, and Dina John combining for a time of 11:56.49.
- Curtis posted an eighth-place finish in the 500 meter dash with a personal-best time of 1:14.02.
- A pair of Catamounts finished eighth in the 1000 meter runs. Tyler Marshall was eighth in the men's 1000 with a time of 2:34.01. In the women's 1000, Caroline O'Shea posted a time of 2:54.97.
- Koski and Nagpaul recorded strong finishes in the 3000 meter run. Koski posted a time of 9:38.90 for eighth place and Nagpaul (9:45.75) finished 12th.
NOTES
- Dan Moroney set the previous 3000 meter school record with a time of 8:18.39 in 2016.
- Benner earns his second UVM record of the season. He set the record in the mile (4:05.34) to win the New England Championships.
- Koski and Nagpaul both set personal-bests in the 3000 meter run. Koski bested her previous mark by 5.8 seconds. Nagpaul had a 17.29-second improvement.
- Curtis' mark in the 500 meter dash was only 0.77 seconds off of the school record set by Carmen Lagala in 2007.

Vermont begins the outdoor season on Saturday (Mar. 28) for the UMass Lowell Invite. The event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
