Anna Olson was named America East Player and Rookie of the Week Monday evening following the Catamounts sweep of UMBC at UAlbany. She is just the third player in America East history dating back to 1984-85 to win both awards in the same week. It is also the third straight week she has been named Rookie of the Week.

Olson led Vermont to a pair of wins over the Retrievers shooting 70-percent from the field and averaging 18.5 points and nine rebounds. On Sunday afternoon, she added four blocks and five assists, today she had two blocks, one assist and a steal.
The last America East player to win both awards in the same week was Hartford's Diana Delva on February 4, 2007.
Olson is the ninth Catamount to earn three or more Rookie of the Week honors in a season – Joanne McKay (3x, 1984-85), Libby Smith (3x, 1998-99), Niki Taylor (3x, 2011-12),
Emma Utterback (3x, 2019-20), Dawn Cressman (4x, 1999-00),
Hanna Crymble (4x, 2016-17), Morgan Hall (5x, 1999-00) and Courtnay Pilypaitis (7x, 2006-07).
It is the first time Vermont has claimed the Rookie of the Week honors three weeks in a row since Niki Taylor (2x) and Kayla Burchill combined to do so from January 23-February 6, 2012. The last individual Catamount to claim three straight was Courtnay Pilypaitis, who did so five times in a row from December 24-Janauary 22, 2007.
Vermont is scheduled to host Binghamton this weekend for a two-game series at Patrick Gym. The teams will face each other at 5 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. The contests will both be broadcast live on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the contest on WVMT AM 620/96.3 FM with Maura Sheridan on the call.
