BOSTON – After a strong 2-0 weekend on the road a pair of Catamounts received America East weekly honors, the conference announced earlier today.
Sierra Espeland was named the Defensive Player of the Week and first-year
Alina Gerke picked up Rookie of the Week honors.

Espeland posted her seventh and eighth wins of the season over the weekend saving nine of the ten shots she faced (.900 SV %). On Friday she backboned a shutout of #22 Monmouth – her third clean sheet of the season. She now has eight career shutouts which puts her in sole possession of fifth all-time at UVM.
Gerke put together a solid two-goal weekend and was credited with the game-winners against the Hawks and Wagner in the weekend finale. She now ranks second on the team with five goals this season which is also top-10 in the conference.
The Cats return home this weekend for the first two of four straight home games over the next two weeks. On Friday UC Davis comes to town for a 2 p.m. contest and Cal makes the trip east for a noon start on Sunday.
