WOMEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
Vermont (11-9-2, 8-6-1 HEA) returns to action this week to face Holy Cross (3-16-0, 1-13-0 HEA) in a rescheduled two-game Hockey East series. The Catamounts and Crusaders will faceoff at 1 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday afternoon. Please note attendance at Holy Cross is limited to those on the team pass list. Both games will be broadcast for free on CollegeSportsLive.

PACK THE GUT PRESENTED BY THE WINDJAMMER FRIDAY NIGHT

FRIDAY NIGHT TO AIR ON WYCI'S HOCKEY NIGHT IN VERMONT
Friday night's 6 p.m. contest with Providence will be UVM Women's Hockey's second game on WYCI as part of a new partnership with WCAX in presenting "Hockey Night in Vermont." WYCI is available on the following channels Comcast – 712, Burlington Telecom - 284, Dish Network - 34, DirecTV 40, and Spectrum – 706/1230. For fans outside of the local viewing area the game will still be streamed for free through CollegeSportsLive.
MILLER NAMED HOCKEY EAST CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
After a goal and two assists in Vermont's 6-2 win over then No. 10 UConn last Sunday first year
Reagan Miller was named Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week by Hockey East. Sunday against the Huskies was her first career multi-point game.
POULIN-LABELLE LEADS CATAMOUNTS OFFENSIVE ATTACK
Senior defenseman
Maude Poulin-Labelle leads the Catamounts in scoring with seven goals and 13 assists this season for 20 points. She is currently tied for third amongst all defenseman in scoring in the NCAA. Her numbers are boosted by a historic performance at Merrimack on November 21. She recorded the second hat trick of her career. She's the fourth Catamount in program history to record two or more hat tricks in her career. Allie Knowles, Dayna Colang and
Ève-Audrey Picard were the other three. With 69 career points in 103 games she's UVM's all-time leader in defensive scoring.
PK PROWESS
The Catamounts own the nation's 5th ranked penalty kill this season, boasting an 90.6% success rate. Vermont has only allowed five goals while shorthanded this season, and has scored three times while on the penalty kill with
Natálie Mlýnková scoring two of them. The 2018-19 Catamounts finished the season with the nation's top penalty kill at 87.4%. Vermont is one of just eight teams in the country to have allowed five or less goals shorthanded this season.
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
Holy Cross enters Monday's contest on a six-game losing streak in Hockey East play. Their sole win in league play came November 11 at home against Boston University. Last week they fell 2-1 and 4-1 in a two-game series at Maine. Holy Cross' last win was a 4-2 decision against Brown on December 10.
Junior defenseman Kailey Langefels was named the Hockey East Defender of the Month for December, after totaling two assists and nine blocked shots in three games. Langefels leads the Crusaders with 34 blocked shots this year. Junior forward Darci Johal leads the team in scoring with six goals and two assists for eight points. She scored in Vermont's 4-2 win over Holy Cross on October 22. All six of her goals have come in Hockey East play.
The Crusaders have played stingy defense against the Catamounts at home in their time in Hockey East. The teams have met just three times at the Hart Center, UVM has scored just three goals in those three games.
SERIES HISTORY
The Catamounts lead the all-time series with the Crusaders 7-2-1. Last season the Catamounts swept Holy Cross in a two-game series at Gutterson Fieldhouse. UVM has won the last three contests between the two teams by a combined score of 14-3. UVM won the first official meeting 2-0 in 2001 as D-III programs.
CZECH CATAMOUNTS OFFICIALLY NAMED TO OLYMPIC TEAM
Sammy Kolowrat '19, Natálie Mlynková and Tynka Pátková were named to the Czech Olympic team Thursday morning. All three will be making their Olympic debuts. The trio qualified for the Olympics during a November qualifying tournament in Chomutov, Czech Republic. The Czechs went 3-0 in Group C to qualify defeating Poland, Hungary and Norway. Kolowrat scored two goals in the three games, Mlynková posted one goal and three assists and Pátková posted an assist. In August, the three of them also represented the Czech Republic at the 2021 IIHF Women's World Hockey Championship in Calgary, Alberta.
The 2022 Beijing Olympics will mark the first time UVM has more than one player in action in the tournament. In 2010 Klara Myren '15 represented Sweden finishing fourth overall and at the 2018 Olympics Amanda Pelkey '15 became the first Catamount to earn a medal in women's hockey at the Olympics winning gold with the United States.
