CROSS COUNTRY NOTEBOOK
Vermont cross country battles the toughest competition in the region Friday (Nov. 11) when they head to Bronx, N.Y. for the NCAA Northeast Regionals. The event at Van Cortlandt Park kicks off with the women's 6k at 11 a.m., followed by the men's 10k at 12 p.m. Lexicon Timing will be providing live results.

SCOUTING THE FIELD
The Catamounts will face several nationally-ranked teams at the NCAA Northeast Regionals. No. 10 Syracuse headlines the field on the men's side, with No. 22 Harvard also in the mix. No. 18 Providence is the top ranked team in the women's field, followed by No. 26 Syracuse.

LOOKING BACK AT LAST YEAR'S REGIONAL
Jane Leighton and Wyatt Matyas led their respective teams at the 2021 NCAA Northeast Regionals. Leighton finished 27th in the individual competition with a time of 21:13. She was the fourth-fastest America East competitor. Matyas was 98th with a time of 32:42.
Owen Amsden was the second fastest runner for the Catamounts with a mark of 33:00.

LAST TIME OUT
A pair of Catamounts recorded top-10 finishes as the Catamount men and women finished third and fifth, respectively, at the America East Championships.
Andrew Crompton (5th) and
Jane Leighton (7th) led their respective squads.

ALL-CONFERENCE CATS
Crompton and Leighton received All-Conference First Team honors for their high finishes at the America East Championships. Crompton's fifth-place finish was the highest on men's side for Vermont since Doug Maisey's third-place finish in 2009.

MORE HONORS FOR CROMPTON
Crompton also received the Elite 18 award at the America East Championships for exemplifying excellence on the course and in the classroom. The senior carries a 4.0 GPA in Microbiology. He was also named the TD Bank Student-Athlete of the Week on Nov. 1 for the second time this season.
