WOMEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
After a four-point weekend against Boston University the 14th ranked Vermont women's hockey team returns to action this week as they travel to face Merrimack in a two-game series. The teams will faceoff at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday night with both games airing live on ESPN+. The Catamounts currently sit in second place in Hockey East with 22 points while Merrimack is tied for seventh place with 12 points.

GAME WORN MILITARY APPRECIATION JERSEY AUCTION CLOSES FRIDAY
Last Friday was the Catamounts' annual Military Appreciation Game presented by Milton CAT. MLYNKOVA ON SCORCHING SCORING STREAK
Junior forward Natálie Mlýnková has been on a tear over the last couple weeks, in Vermont's last seven games she has 12 points including six goals in the Catamounts last four contests. In UVM's last four games she has six goals and three assists for nine points. For the first time in her career she is leading the Catamounts in scoring with 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points. With 20 points, she is second in Hockey East in scoring and sixth in the NCAA.

McPHERSON BACKSTOPPING THE CATS
Junior goaltender Jessie McPherson is tied for fifth in the NCAA with eight wins this season. She has maintained a 2.12 goals-against average which is tied for 21st in the NCAA. McPherson has 27 wins in her career at Vermont, she is approaching Madison Litchfield's (2013-17) program record of 32.

LONG CHANGE, LONG PERIOD
The Catamounts have been most effective this season during the second period, when both teams have the long change. UVM has outscored its opponents 19-7 in the second and outshot teams 159-99.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
Merrimack opened league play securing just one point in six contests against Northeastern, UConn and Boston College. Since then the Warriors are 4-2-0 in league sweeping a home-and-home with Holy Cross and splitting series with BU and New Hampshire.

Sophomore defenseman Hayley Chang was named Hockey East Defender of the Week by the league on Monday. Chang scored twice in the Warriors 5-4 win over UNH last Saturday. She notched the game-winner 59 seconds into overtime.

Senior forward Katie Kaufman leads the Warriors in scoring with six goals and five assists for 11 points this year. Five of her six goals have come in Hockey East action. The Merrimack captain has two points in four career games against Vermont.
SERIES HISTORY
This week will be the 19th and 20th all-time meeting between the Catamounts and Warriors. After the Catamounts won all three meetings last season the Catamounts have the edge in the series 9-7-2. The Catamounts have earned 14 of a possible 15 points against Merrimack in their last five meetings.

CZECH-MATES EARN BRONZE
Vermont forwards Tynka Pátková & Natálie Mlýnková earned bronze medals at the 2022 IIHF Women's World Championships in Denmark in September. Czechia defeated Switzerland 4-2 in the bronze medal game behind two goals from Mlýnková. It was Czechia's first-ever medal on the women's side. Former Catamount Blanka Skodova was also a member of the team.

There were three other current Catamounts in the tournament patrolling the blueline. First year Krista Parkkonen (Finland) made her World Championships debut while Sofie Skott (Denmark) and
Sini Karjalainen (Finland) competed in their second World Championship at the senior level.
