TRACK & FIELD NOTEBOOK
Vermont track & field continues the 2021-22 indoor campaign with a pair of meets this weekend, starting with the New England Championships on Friday (Feb. 4). The two-day meet will take place at Reggie Track & Athletic Center in Roxbury, Massachusetts. The Catamounts will also be competing in the Scarlet & White Invite, hosted by Boston University, on Saturday (Feb. 5).

NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Catamounts compete in the New England Indoor Track & Field Championships for the first time since 2019-20 season. The events kick off on Friday (Feb. 4) with the start of the women's pentathlon at 10 a.m. Friday competitions extend all the way to 4:15 p.m., concluding the day with the women's distance medley relay. Saturday's events run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center.

LAST TIME AT THE NEICAAA'S
John Benner '20 became a New England Champion in 2019-20 when he registered the Vermont indoor record in the mile. Benner logged a time of 4:05.34 win the mile by nearly two seconds.

SCARLET & WHITE
The Scarlet & White Invite on Saturday (Feb. 5) is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center. The event concludes with the men's 5000-meter run at 6:40 p.m. BU's Track & Tennis Center will play host to the America East Indoor Track & Field Championships as well as the ECAC/IC4A Championships later this season.

THIRD WIN FOR THE MEN
The UVM men secured their third victory of the indoor season at the Middlebury Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 29). The Catamounts racked up 214 points to secure the top spot. Vermont has won three of its first four events this season – with two wins at Middlebury and a victory in the season opener at Dartmouth. Â

JANE'S MILE
Jane Leighton logged a personal-best mile time of 4:56.27 at last week's Invitational to secure first place by 22.85 seconds. The senior's mile time is currently the fifth-fastest in America East this season. Leighton has the second-fastest adjusted 1000-meter time of 2:53.78.
