The 2022 outdoor season continues for Vermont track & field when it competes in the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday (Apr. 2) at Reggie Atkins Track & Field Facility in Durham, N.H. Events begin at 11 a.m. Official timing will be conducted by Lancer Timing.

CONFERENCE FOES
The Catamounts will face America East counterparts New Hampshire and Maine in Saturday's meet. The UVM women are ranked ahead of both UNH and Maine in the USTFCCCAÂ Northeast Regional rankings. The Vermont men trail New Hampshire, but are ranked ahead of Maine in the Northeast region.

HYNES' SCHOOL RECORD
Graduate student
Matt Hynes ran a historic 3000-meter mark en route to a first-place finish at the UMass Lowell Invite on Saturday (Mar. 26). Hynes began the outdoor season with a blistering pace of 8:28.78 to eclipse the previous school record (8:34.85) set by John Benner in 2019. The Montpelier, Vt. native won the distance event by nearly five seconds. Â

Four other current Catamounts hold UVM outdoor records.Â
Sonia John ran a record-setting time of 54.48 seconds in the 400-meter dash at the New England Outdoor Championships.Â
Alex Siaton logged a program-best 400-meter dash last season with a time of 48.05 seconds at the America East Championships. In 2019,Â

WAPSHARE'S JAVELIN
Emma Wapshare posted a mark of 41.36 meters in her collegiate javelin debut on Saturday to take first place at the UMass Lowell Invite. The rookie's throw ranks No. 9 on the program's top-10 list. Wapshare's 41.36-meter mark is the third-longest throw in America East this season.

EARLY NOTABLE MARKS
The Catamounts have posted some notable marks through the first week of the season.
Jane Leighton posted the second-fastest steeplechase mark this season (10:55.55.) at the Rleigh Relays on Mar. 24. The senior placed 27th, logging a NEICAAA Qualifying mark.
Lauren Triarsi's winning 100-meter hurdles time of 14.84 seconds is the third-fastest mark in the conference this season.
Carolena Bellini also has the third-best mark in her respective event, posting a long jump of 5.51 meters at Saturday's UMass Lowell Invite.

LOOKING AHEAD TO THE AE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Vermont will host the 2022 America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 7 & 8 at the Frank H. Livak Track & Field Facility. The Catamounts host the conference championships for the first time since 2016.
