BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont men's lacrosse team won its sixth straight game Saturday afternoon defeating Binghamton 17-10 on Senior Day presented by the UVM Alumni Association. With the win, the Catamounts have clinched a share of the America East Regular Season Title for the first time in program history. Today's win also ensured that UVM will host the America East Tournament for the first time. The semifinals will be Thursday, May 5 at Virtue Field. Ticket information and game times will be announced by the conference following the regular season.
With the win Vermont improves to 8-6 and 5-0 in league play while the Bearcats fall to 5-7 and 3-2 in conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Binghamton's Luke Rosaschi opened the scoring for the Bearcats 50 seconds in on a transition goal. Patrick Murphy answered back for the Catamounts and Liam Limoges scored two in 1:21 of game action to give Vermont a 3-1 advantage halfway through the first quarter.
- Michael McCormack and Brock Haley added tallies for the Catamounts and they held a 5-3 edge after the opening 15 minutes.
- Thomas McConvey scored the first two goals of the second quarter 2:16 apart as UVM expanded its lead. McCormack's second of the afternoon made it 8-3. McCormack made it a first half hat trick with 7:32 left in the half.
- After a two-goal spurt from Binghamton David Closterman scored twice in the final two minutes to give Vermont an 11-6 lead. Closterman's second tally came with just nine seconds left in the half.
- Brock Haley and James Basile scored UVM's two goals in an even third quarter where both teams scored twice.
- The Catamounts put the game out of reach with four straight goals to open the fourth quarter. Griffin Fenech scored 48 seconds into the frame followed by goals from McConvey and Jonas Hunter. McConvey's final goal of the game closed the scoring for Vermont and made it 17-8 with 4:13 left.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Tommy Burke won 21 of the 27 faceoffs he took this afternoon, including 15 in the first half.
- Through the first five games of America East action, Vermont has outscored opponents 80-31.
- Junior Nick Alviti led all players with six ground balls Saturday. He now leads the team this season with 62 on the year.
- UVM's five conference wins are the second most in program history. Last season during a COVID schedule with additional league games UVM was 7-2.

The Catamounts will close out the regular season next weekend at Stony Brook. UVM will face the Seawolves in their final America East contest on Saturday, April 29 at noon from LaValle Stadium. The action will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
