"During Day 1, the sprint/hurdle/multi crew faced tough competition and put up some solid marks," associate head coach
Kasey Hill said. "We were fortunate to have warm weather for the entirety of the day.
Gabby Rausa had a season's best in the 400, and will return tomorrow to compete in the finals. The combined-events athletes are off to a good start and we're looking forward to them completing their competitions tomorrow morning."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lauren Triarsi is fourth in the women's heptathlon after Day 1. The junior finished third in both the high jump (1.61m) and 200-meter dash (25.62s). The 200-meter mark is a personal record for Triarsi.
- Gabby Rausa advanced out of the 400-meter prelims, posting a personal-best time of 57.44 seconds.
- Ian Denis placed eighth in the men's 10,000-meter finals. The graduate student posted a time of 31:55.01 in the distance run.
- Kevin Mills finished 10th in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.90 meters. Pierce DeBoer placed 12th, also with a mark of 1.90 meters.
- Alyssa Bourque was 14th in the women's javelin, posting a distance of 36.74 meters.
UP NEXT
The Catamounts return to action for Day 2 of the New England Championships on Saturday (May 14) at Bryant University. Events kick off at 10 a.m. Vermont track & field will also send its student-athletes to the ECAC/IC4A Championships on the campus of William & Mary.
