"Simply stated, Jane and Lauren represent what we should aspire to be as members of this program," head coach
Matt Belfield said. "Their commitment to achieving academic excellence while competing at the highest level for multiple athletic seasons per year is truly remarkable. I appreciate their leadership in all areas; but especially in the classroom. Having Lauren and Jane back this coming year, along with so many others on our team who are committed to the balance of being exceptional student-athletes, is very exciting."
Leighton and Triarsi both registered All-Conference performances at the 2022 America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which were hosted at Frank H. Livak Track & Field Facility.
Leighton carries a 3.99 GPA in Professional Nursing, which is the second highest GPA on the Women's All-Academic Team. The senior earns America East All-Academic honors for the fourth time in her career and third time this academic year – she was also named to the All-Academic Team during the cross country and indoor seasons. Leighton also earned the America East Elite 18 honor during the cross country season. On the track, the mid-distance specialist recorded a runner-up finish in the women's steeplechase at the conference championships to secure All-Conference.
Triarsi receives her first All-Academic honor. The junior boasts a 3.71 GPA in Public Communication and became the first Catamount to win the heptathlon at the America East Championships since 2015. The Westfield, N.J. native scored top marks in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, and 200-meter dash, en route to her conference title.
