COACH'S QUOTE
"The team leveled up in critical ways today to earn the win," head coach
Kate Pfeifer said. "Our defensive corner unit was tested and was able to bear down in a really impressive way and Sierra made some fantastic saves. Overall, the connection continues to improve and we are feeling good heading into league play."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maddie Moran got the Cats on the board early in the second quarter. She corralled a long, bouncing pass from Bella Silvaggio in the circle, made a deft move to the baseline and rifled a shot home for her second goal of the season.
- Sierra Espeland made four saves in the second frame including two saves on a late BU penalty corner. She dove to her right to make the initial save and then sprawled again to deflect the rebound wide.
- Moran found her second of the day at the 9:02 mark of the third when she redirected a long shot from Sophia Drees into the upper netting of the cage to make it 2-0.
- BU got one back with about four minutes gone in the fourth thanks to Tess Cejka – her fourth of the season.
- UVM answered right back, however. Reggie Hillery made a nifty move along the far baseline and found Sophia Lefranc in front for a simple redirection and a 3-1 lead.
