BOSTON – UVM field hockey graduate student goalkeeper
Sierra Espeland picked up her first America East Weekly award of the season Tuesday. The league announced it's weekly award recipients and Espeland received the Defensive Player of the Week nod.

Espeland posted a 2-0 record last week with a 0.48 goals against average, seven saves and a .875 save percentage.
She earned her first shutout of the season and 10
th of her career with Sunday's 1-0 victory over Stanford. She made six saves in that contest including one on a penalty stroke and several down a key stretch at the end of regulation to help send the game to overtime where the Cats picked up the league victory.
Earlier this season Espeland became Vermont's all-time leader in wins and continues to add to that mark as she has now backboned the longest win streak in program history.
UVM plays host to the newest member of America East – Bryant – on Friday afternoon before heading to Northeastern to close out the weekend set.
