The Vermont field hockey team heads back out on the road for a pair of games this weekend. Friday afternoon the Cats take on Holy Cross at 3 p.m. before wrapping up the weekend against Boston University Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.

Both games this weekend will be played at Harvard's Berylson Family Field Hockey Field.

UVM won its second straight contest defeating Merrimack last Friday by the final of 6-1. It was the first time the Catamounts have scored six goals in a game under head coach
Kate Pfeifer.
Maddie Moran paced the UVM offense with a goal – the first of her career – and two assists. Sophomore
Reggie Hillery and first-year
Maddie Priestly also scored the first goals of their career in the victory.
MORAN COLLECTS WEEKLY AWARD
Thanks to her four-point afternoon against Merrimack,
Maddie Moran was named America East Offensive Player of the Week. Moran scored a goal and added two assists in her first career multi-point game.

Catamount goalkeeper
Sierra Espeland continued her ascent up the record books with her 28
th career victory last Friday. That win moves her into a tie with Pat Donze (1979-81) for first all-time at UVM.

SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS

Holy Cross enters its Friday afternoon matchup against the Catamounts with a 1-3 record after dropping back-to-back games last weekend to Fairfield and St. Francis (PA) by the same score of 1-0. They are 1-1 against teams in the America East so far this season. Sinead Walsh leads the team in scoring with three points while Isabella Henderson, Allie McDonough, and Gabby Venezia have each recorded a pair of points. Goalkeeper Brooke Ross has a 1-3 record in 4 starts and a 1.43 goals-against-average.Â

SCOUTING THE TERRIERS

Boston University will head into Sunday's contest fresh off a Friday date with UMass Lowell. The Terriers, who finished the 2021 season with a 4-14 mark, enter the weekend with a 2-2 record after last weekend's 4-0 loss to #5 Iowa and a 2-1 win over Saint Louis. Tess Csejka leads the team in scoring with six points and three goals while Mikayla Crowley has five points and two goals. Caroline Kelly has a 1-2 record in 4 starts in goal, with a 3.00 goals-against-average.

SERIES HISTORIES

The Crusaders lead the all-time series 18-9 heading into Friday's contest. Vermont won last year's meeting 3-2 in Burlington.
Sophia Drees tallied 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) while
Alina Gerke added a goal of her own in the Catamount victory. Sunday will be the 36
th time UVM and BU have squared off on the field hockey pitch. BU is 31-3-1 against Vermont all-time. This will be the teams' first match up since 2012 with the Cats looking to snap a seven-game losing streak against the Terriers.
