COACH'S QUOTE
"BU had our full respect and the last week we have really worked hard in practice to prepare for their aggressive ride and offensive personnel," head coach
Chris Feifs said. "That took a total group effort for us to get that win. I'm really proud of the guys that even when the going got tough at the end there we were able to stay composed and finish it out."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Terriers notched the game's opening tally, the Catamount offense settled in and rattled off three straight including the first career goal for Charles Huntley (1G, 1A) to take a 3-1 lead after one quarter.
- BU's Louis Perfetto and Timmy Ley scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at three apiece with 10 minutes to go in the second.
- Powered by two scores for Jonas Hunter and Brock Haley, the Cats would score four of the game's next five goals to take an 8-5 lead into the break.
- The third quarter was all UVM as it outscored BU 5-1 in the frame. Tristan Whitaker started a stretch of four goals in 2:24 with the first of his career and then David Closterman punctuated the run with a pair of goals.
- BU made a strong run in the fourth quarter trimming the Catamount lead to two with 2:38 to play but Matt Shaffer (15 saves) made a huge stop on a Vince D'Alto blast with two minutes left and the Cats iced the remaining clock to get the win.
