MEN'S LACROSSE NOTEBOOK
The Vermont men's lacrosse returns home for the second time this season when it plays host to the Brown Bears Sunday afternoon at 2:30. All the action will air live and for free on AmericaEast.TV.
The game was originally scheduled for Saturday but because of forecasted below-zero temperatures in Burlington the game was moved to Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Catamounts won their second straight contest last weekend defeating Utah, 14-13, in overtime. UVM is now 5-1 in overtime games under
Chris Feifs.
David Closterman paced the Vermont offense with five goals and an assist while
Brock Haley finished the day with four points on two goals and two assists. Haley's first goal of the afternoon tied the game with 30 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and his second won it in overtime.
Tommy Burke went 25-for-31 at the faceoff X with 14 ground balls and
Matt Shaffer finished with 11 saves in his second career victory.
WEEKLY HONORS
Closterman and Burke both earned weekly honors for their standout performances against the Utes. Closterman picked up his first America East Offensive Player of the Week award of the season while Burke was named Defensive Player of the Week. The senior faceoff specialist also landed on the USILA National Team of the Week.
THE COLISEUM
Since 2017, UVM is 25-5 at Virtue Field. The Cats were 8-1 last season and with the win over BU two weeks ago are 1-0 in the early-going in 2023.

UVM is receiving votes in both the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and the USILA Coaches' Poll.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown is off to 1-1 start to 2023 and after opening the season with a loss to Quinnipiac, the Bears bounced back to defeat Providence on Tuesday, 13-7. Last season's Ivy League Regular Season Champion, Brown is led offensively by senior Devon McLane who has four goals and seven assists through two games. Matthew Gunty is off to a strong start at the faceoff X winning 60% of draws so far this season. Between the pipes is 2022 Honorable Mention All-American Connor Theriault who boasts a .536 career save percentage entering the weekend.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Saturday is Brown's first trip to Burlington since the 2012 season but it is the second straight year the two teams will square off. Brown won a tight 12-11 contest last season in Providence. The Cats are 0-8 all-time against Brown – four of those games have been decided by two goals or less.
