In his first career start over the weekend, Shaffer made a career-best 16 saves and allowed just seven goals against Syracuse in the JMA Wireless Dome. That's good for a .696 save percentage – the highest over a full 60 minutes of action in his career. He also picked up two ground balls for the Cats.
Shaffer had just 12 games under his belt heading into Saturday's season opener. His 16 saves are the most for a Catamount making his first career start since
Ryan Cornell made 10 in his first start back in 2020.
The Catamounts are back in action on Saturday with a 12 o'clock battle against No. 14 Boston University at Virtue Field. All that action can be seen on AmericaEast.TV.
