LAST TIME OUT
The Catamounts won their third straight game last weekend with a 13-8 victory over Merrimack in just the second meeting between the two teams. Three Catamounts registered four points paced by three goals and an assist from Carson Boyle. David Closterman went for two goals and two assists while Tristan Whitaker chipped in with a goal and three assists. Matt Shaffer put together a solid outing in cage with eight saves including several in the fourth quarter. Tommy Burke went 19-for-22 at the faceoff X and finished with 11 ground balls.

BURKE HONORED
For the second time this season Tommy Burke was named America East Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday. Burke's .863 win percentage at the X was his highest of the season and third highest of his career. The senior currently ranks second in the country with his .645 win percentage.

HE'S THE CLOSTER-MAN
Grad student David Closterman scored his 100th career goal last weekend against Merrimack. He is the 12th Catamount to score at least 100 goals and with his 83 career assists is just the third player in program history with 100 goals and at least 80 assists.

FINDING THE GROOVE
The UVM offense has picked up the pace over the first three weekends of conference play with a combined 43 goals. Against Merrimack, the Cats had eight different players register points.

ROOKIES ROLLING
The first-year trio of Carson Boyle, Charles Huntley and Tristan Whitaker have hit their stride during league play. Boyle leads the group with 11 points (10G, 1A) through three games while Whitaker has nine (2G, 7A) and Huntley seven (4G, 3A).

CATS VS. AMERICA EAST
The Cats are 16-2 in their last 18 regular season conference games including perfect 6-0 last year and a 3-0 start this season.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Coming into the weekend with a 7-2 overall record, Binghamton is one of three teams sitting at 3-0 in America East play. The Bearcat offense boasts five players with 20 or more points including two north of 40 through their nine games. Thomas Greenblatt has 17 goals and 25 assists for 42 points while Matthew Keegan has 33 goals and eight assists to rank first in the league in goals per game. Connor Winters has started all nine games in cage and enters the weekend with an 11.37 goals against average and a .548 save percentage. Matthew DeSouza leads the country with a .657 faceoff win percentage and Ross Chazanow wins draws at a 52.4% clip.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Saturday will be 21st meeting all-time between the two teams and it will split a 10-10 deadlock in the series. UVM has won five of the last seven games including a 17-10 victory a year ago in Burlington. Closterman and Brock Haley each had a pair of goals in that game. Binghamton won the last meeting in Vestal, 10-7, in 2021 despite a 16-for-20 day at the X for Tommy Burke.
