Nathan Stine led the pack for the Vermont men as he cruised to a personal best of 25:48.2, and
Clare Kelly ran a 22:23.3 for the women's team. The men's team finished in 13th place with 451 points. The women's team finished in sixth place with 227 points, the highest any Vermont team has ever finished at the Paul Short Run. The sixth and 13th place finishes make the Catamounts the highest finishers among there America East counterparts in both the brown and gold races.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Stine was the leader for the Catamounts on the day, and Jameson Sparks finished behind him as Vermont's second runner with a time of 25:59.2.Â
- Rounding out the scoring for Vermont were William Locke (26:10.2), James Cilwik (26:19.2), and Elliot Hawley (26:26.2).Â
- Kelly was the front runner for the women's race but was closely followed by Caroline Deiss, who ran a personal best (22:24.2).Â
- Rounding out the scoring for the Catamounts on this historic day were Lily Porth (22:49.6), Hope Tyska (23:02.4), and Katrina Secinaro (23:12.6) in her first collegiate 6k.Â
- In the men's 8K open race, Tanner Halopoff was Vermont's top finisher as he ran a career-best 26:47.4. Thomas Wolfe was the second finisher as he came in shortly after with a time of 26:53.6.Â
- In the women's 6K open race, Erica Eastman was the top finisher for the women's team in her first collegiate 6K as she ran a 23:32.9. Grace DeLisle was the second finisher for the women as she came across the line with a time of 23:59.4.Â

UP NEXT
The Catamounts will enjoy a weekend off before returning to action on Sunday (Oct. 15) when they host the Fall Foliage Invitational. Events are slated to begin at 12:30 p.m. at Hard'Ack Recreation Area in St. Albans. The meet will be Vermont's final tune-up before the America East Championships.
