COACH'S QUOTE
"Always good to get a couple team wins, and the individual race winners for us both raced exceptionally well," said Head Coach Matt Belfield. "We see some strengths and also see where we have room for improvement and it's good to know we can be better. Looking forward to the training period we have coming up before Dartmouth."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bristol, Vt. native Stanley posted a winning time of 18:12.50 in the 5K to open the day in the women's race.
  • At the first split Caroline Deiss held the lead and closely followed Stanley across the finish line at 18:20.30 in second. Alex Beal completed the top three finishing in 18:36.00.
  • Ellery Klatka's 18:46.40 was quick enough for fourth place. In her first career race, freshman Ava Hayden rounded out the top five crossing the line at 18:50.40.
  • Grace DeLisle (18:58.00), Dailey Arnold (19:00.50), Isabella Fryer (19:11.40) and Makenna Alden (19:20.20) all finished inside the top 10.
  • Tommy Wolfe had to fend off a late Riverhawk charge capturing the win in the men's race with a time of 20:22.90.
  • Bennet Harrison-Michaels picked up third place with a 20:26.00. He was followed by Nick Kidder at 20:33.70 in fourth and William Locke at 20:37.00. Myles Napolitano was the final point scorer for Vermont in sixth with a 20:49.90.
  • Vermont rounded out the top 10 with Will Just capturing seventh clocking a 20:50.10, Jacob Tremblay in eighth at 20:53.50 and Patrick Mozden at 21:04.10.
  • With today's wins, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $200 to the Lund Family Center through the Cat's Win, Community Win's initiative.  Vermont Mutual has donated over $5 Million Dollars since launching their Charitable Giving Fund in 2014.
UP NEXT
A trip to Hanover, N.H. awaits the Catamounts as they will compete in the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invite at Dartmouth on Saturday, September 20th. The Vermont women's team finished third in this event last fall and will race in the 6k with the men also making the trip to New Hampshire for the meet beginning at 10:45 a.m.
