BURLINGTON, Vt. – After two hard-fought regular season opening games with 3rd ranked Clarkson, the Catamounts begin Hockey East play at home from Gutterson Fieldhouse for a two-game split with conference foe, Merrimack. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. All the action will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Rob Ryan on the call.
On Saturday (Oct. 12) there will be a Replica Jersey Giveaway presented by M&T Bank. M&T Bank will be handing out replica jerseys to the first 100 fans in attendance.

VERMONT OUTLOOK
- Head Coach Jim Plumer has selected three student-athletes to lead the Catamounts during the 2024-25 campaign. Maddy Skelton and Alaina Tanski will serve as captains for Vermont while Anna Podein will be Vermont's alternate this season. Tanski and Skelton served as alternate captains last season as well.
- The Catamounts return a handful of familiar faces including member of the 2024 Hockey East All-Rookie Team, Kaylee Lewis, who finished her first season with 10 goals and eight assists for 18 total points, good for third most amongst Hockey East rookies last season. UVM also brings back Evelyne Blais-Savoie, who earned 21 total points last season on seven goals and 14 assists, good for second highest on the team. The 2023 Hockey East Rookie of the Year, Lara Beecher, returns for her third season in a Catamount uniform after posting a 19-point season in 2023-24 on nine goals and 10 assists.
- The Catamounts are 8-3-1 all-time in Hockey East Openers under Head Coach Jim Plumer. Last year, UVM defeated Merrimack 4-2 on the road in North Andover, MA. Blais-Savoie tied a career high three points on two goals and one assist while Lewis, Marie-Rose Brochu, and Hailey Eikos all registered one assist throughout the victory.
- Blais-Savoie, Beecher, and Kyla Bent all scored their first goals of the season this past weekend vs the Golden Knights.
- Grace Nelles and Bent both secured their first points as Catamount's vs Clarkson. Nelles recorded one assist while Bent notched one goal and one assist.
- Vermont is 14-8-2 all-time against Merrimack, trying to extend its 10-game win streak over the Warriors that dates back to January 11, 2020. The last meeting between these two teams happened on December 8, 2023, when UVM came out victorious 4-2.
- The Catamounts have beaten the Warriors by a score of 4-2 in the last three meetings between the programs.
- The Vermont women's hockey team has been selected seventh overall in the 2024-25 Hockey East Preseason Coaches' Poll, receiving 47 total points in the poll. The reigning Hockey East champions, UConn, was selected to finish first.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
- Merrimack is 0-2-0 on the campaign thus far, falling to St. Lawrence University 3-0 and Boston University 7-1.
- Graduate student forward Gabi Jones has the lone goal for the Warriors so far this season. Junior and sophomore blue liners Payten Evans and Solveig Gisler each tallied an assist on Merrimack's only goal this season.
- The Warriors were picked to finish ninth in the 2024-25 Hockey East Preseason Coach's Poll, receiving 25 total points in the poll.
