BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont (6-3-3, 1-2-0 AE) will host UMBC (5-6-1, 1-1-1 AE) at Virtue Field in their annual Rally Against Cancer Game presented by Mascoma Bank on Sunday, October 6. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Brian McLaughlin on the call.
Mascoma Bank and the UVM Cancer Center will be tabling and giving away rally towels by the Virtue Field entrance.

VERMONT OUTLOOK
- The Catamounts kicked off the month of October with a 2-1 win on the road over NJIT on Oct. 3, securing their first conference win of the season. Jill Brody and Emma Warren each found the back of the net for Vermont while Torie Snyder and Kate Bossert each tallied one assist. It's the second season in a row UVM has started the month of October with a win.
- Vermont has scored first in nine of their 12 matches this season, scoring 14 goals in the first half and nine goals in the second half. Vermont holds a 6-1-2 season record when notching the first goal of the match.
- The Vermont offense continues to shine, leading the America East Conference in numerous categories including scoring offense (1.92 per game), total goals (23), and total points scored (62). Vermont ranks second in the conference in total shots (168), points per game (5.17), and average assists per game (1.333).
- UVM is the only school in the America East conference to have two players with 11+ points so far on the season.
- Bailey Ayer leads the conference in goal total and point total, securing eight goals and three assists for 19 total points so far this season. Her eight goals are good for 18th nationwide and her 19 points is good for 29th nationwide.
- Bossert comes in at 4th in the America East in total points, earning 11 total on four goals and three assists. Bossert has tallied a point or more in six of her last eight outings.
- Sydney Remington cracks the top 20 in America East in total shots, ranking 19th, earning 21 on the season thus far.
- Vermont was picked to finish fifth in the America East 2024 Women's Soccer Preseason Coach's Poll.
SCOUTING THE RETRIEVERS
- UMBC is coming off a competitive loss to Binghamton University, 4-3, during the third conference match of their season. The Retrievers are 2-2-1 in their last five games and have been outscored 7-9 throughout those matchups.
- UMBC holds a 4-3 record when playing on the road this season.
- The Retrievers are led by senior midfielder, Izzy Binko, and graduate student forward, Natasha Munro, who each have earned three goals and two assists on the season for eight total points.
- UMBC has a 1-1-1 conference record, earning a 0-0 draw with UAlbany, defeating UMass Lowell 2-1 on the road, and most recently falling to Binghamton at home, 4-3.
- The Catamounts hold a 12-5-4 all-time record versus UMBC.
- The Last time these two teams faced each other was last season on Oct. 8 2023, and Vermont came out victorious 3-0 on the road, seeing goals from Fiona Doherty and Kate Bossert, who scored two goals that evening. Maddy Cronin and Brody each tallied assists in that contest.
- Vermont looks to extend its five-game unbeaten streak against the Retrievers, a streak that dates back to the 2018 season.
