Women’s Hockey Hosts Holy Cross for Annual Teddy Bear Toss Presented by TD Bank

BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont (3-7-0, 2-4-0 HEA) returns to Gutterson Fieldhouse this weekend on Saturday (Nov. 9) as they host Holy Cross (4-5-1, 1-4-1 HEA) in a singular league matchup contest. The conference contest is slated for a 1 p.m. puck drop on Saturday afternoon and will air live on ESPN+ with Rob Ryan on the call.

TD BANK TEDDY BEAR TOSS
Saturday is the annual TD Bank Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring in NEW stuffed animals to toss onto the ice during the first intermission to benefit the King Street Center. TD Bank cardholders are also eligible to receive a 20% discount at the UVM Bookstore's athletic kiosks as well as free hot chocolate or coffee at UVM Dining concessions stands at the game.
 
VERMONT OUTLOOK
  • The Catamounts are tied with Maine for fifth place in Hockey East.
  • Last weekend, Vermont split a weekend series with Maine earning three conference points after a 2-1 victory in the second game of the road series. Grace Nelles shined, securing her first multi-goal game in a Vermont uniform after finding the back of the net twice vs the Black Bears.
  • Vermont is one of three Hockey East schools to have six skaters with five or more points so far this season. Boston University and Providence are the other two universities.
  • The Catamounts have dominated in the faceoff circle to begin the season, ranking 8th in the Nation in faceoff win percentage with a 55.2% success rate, good for first in Hockey East. Blais-Savoie is at the forefront of these wins for UVM, individually ranking 8th in the Nation and first in Hockey East with 132 total wins on the campaign.
  • Vermont is one of five Hockey East schools to have four players with four or more assists on the season. Lara Beecher, Kyla Bent, Rose-Marie Brochu, and Ashley Kokavec all have recorded four assists on the campaign.
  • Beecher leads the team in points, notching three goals and four assists on the season thus far, tied for 13th in Hockey East.
  • Blais-Savoie's four goals this season leads the squad in that department, tied for eighth in Hockey East.
  • Nelles ranks second in the conference in game-winning goals, earning two so far this season, tied for eighth in the country.
  • Brochu has record a point in four of her last six games, totaling five points in six games including a multi-point game vs New Hampshire on Oct. 25 when she tallied one goal and one assist.
  • Kokavec has registered four points in four games, the longest streak in her UVM career. The sophomore blue-liner notched her first multi-point game in a Vermont uniform vs UNH on Oct. 25 when she recorded a goal and an assist.
  • Sophomore forward Cecilia DesLauriers secured her first career collegiate goal in the most recent weekend series with Maine.
  • Hailey Eikos has produced scoring in two out of her last three games, tallying two points on a goal vs UNH and one assist in the win over Maine.
  • Bent and Kokavec each have five total points on the campaign, tied for fourth in Hockey East for most points by a blue liner so far this season.
  • Vermont returns a handful of familiar faces including member of the 2024 Hockey East All-Rookie Team, Kaylee Lewis, who finished her first season with 10 goals and eight assists for 18 total points, good for third most amongst Hockey East rookies last season. UVM also brings back Blais-Savoie, who earned 21 total points last season on seven goals and 14 assists, good for second highest on the team. The 2023 Hockey East Rookie of the Year, Beecher, returns for her third season in a Catamount uniform after posting a 19-point season in 2023-24 on nine goals and 10 assists.
 
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
  • Holy Cross is 4-5-1 overall this season and 1-4-1 during Hockey East play.
  • The Crusaders have earned two home wins and two road wins, defeating St. Anselm 5-1 and Boston College 4-1 on home ice while earning victories over RPI 3-2 and St. Anselm 3-2, again, on the road.
  • Vermont and Holy Cross are tied for the league lead in most saves this season, with both programs earning 272 total saves thus far.
  • The Crusaders are led by sophomore forward Emily Crovo, leading a team-high seven points on another team-high six goals and one assist. Crovo's six goals is good for third in Hockey East. Crovo has a 0.67 percent Goals per Game average, leading the league in that department, good for 14th in the Nation.
  • Crovo has notched three powerplay goals, leading the Hockey East.
  • Vermont holds a 14-4-1 all-time record vs Holy Cross, looking to extend it's two-game win streak, defeating the Crusaders 6-3 on Feb. 2, 2024, and 3-2 the next day on Feb. 3, 2024.
  • The Catamounts have never lost to Holy Cross when playing at the Gut, holding an 8-0-1 all-time record vs the Crusaders from Gutterson Fieldhouse.
