TRACK & FIELD NOTEBOOK
Vermont track and field will head to Baltimore for the 2024 America East Outdoor Championships on May 4 and 5. The conference championships will be hosted at UMBC Stadium. Events begin at 8:30 a.m. ET on Saturday and Sunday. Fans can tune into the action live on AmericaEast TV. M&D Timing will provide live results.Â

SCOUTING THE CONFERENCE
All nine America East members have broken into the top 30 in their respective regional rankings this season. The UAlbany women's team has the highest track & field rating (1,382.24) in the conference and is ranked No. 3 in the Northeast Region. The UAlbany men are ranked No. 7 in the Northeast and have the highest track & field rating index (1,104.38) in the conference.Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Catamounts competed at UNH for the second time this season during the UNH Pre-Conference Meet that took place last weekend. Vermont saw a flurry of top-five finishes in several different events. Elizabeth Lembach finished third in the 5000 run, while Lily Porth recorded a new personal best in the 1500 run, finishing fourth. Cameron Kirn rounded out the 400 Dash in fourth place, followed by Rachel Barba, who also placed fourth. Kenneth Morrissey competed in the 1500 running, where he placed fourth with a time of 3:59.45, followed by the men's 4x4000 relay squad, finishing in fourth with 3:42.36. Noah Beayon saw a new personal best after finishing fifth in the 100 at 11.34. Samantha Alexander notched a top-five finish in the discus throw, reaching 41.46 meters, earning her the fifth-place spot. Â
LAST TIME AT UMBC
Vermont returns to compete at UMBC for the first time since 2018, where the Men finished eighth overall, scoring 45 total points, and the Women placed seventh after scoring 60 total points. That year, Pearl Abiti and Samantha Sayer highlighted all-conference honors on the women's side, while Dan DeBlieck stood as the lone all-conference honor on the Men's side for Vermont.Â
LAST YEAR'S AE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2023 America East Outdoor Championships saw the Catamounts finish ninth overall in Men's competition with a score of 36 and seventh in Women's competition with 52. Alex Siaton earned top-5 finishes in the 100-meter run and the 200-meter run. Kenneth Morrissey placed eighth in the 800-meter run, while Steve O'Driscoll earned an 11th overall finish for the 1500-meter run. Jameson Sparks earned sixth place in the Men's 3000 steeplechase. Carson Kopetz cracked the top-5 in Men's Pole Vault, finishing fourth overall.Â
RETURNING ALL-CONFERENCE CATS
Vermont gears up for the America East Outdoor Championships by bringing a few returning All-Conference athletes who are also bound to compete this year. Kayla Myers and Sophie Christopher were awarded all-conference honors for the Women last year. At the same time, Alex Siaton was the lone all-conference honor on the Men's side following the end of the 2023 season. Siaton has posted new career bests this season in the 200 Meters (21.54) and 60 Meters (6.88). Myers recorded a new career best this season in the javelin throw after throwing for 27.40 meters during the 2024 George Mason Ebanks Invitational.Â
