Track and Field Prepares for America East Championships

BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont Track and Field will travel to Boston this weekend to compete at the America East Indoor Championships. The championships will be held at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. Lancer Timing will provide the live results, and the entire meet will be streamed on ESPN+

VERMONT WOMEN OUTLOOK

The Catamount women recorded six individual victories last time out. Inge Schmidt, Annika Huber, Morgan Ryan, and Kate Kelly all won their Middlebury Field and Track Meet events. MegAnne Gilmore and Alina Staten won 1000 and 3000 at the Big Apple Invitational.
Heading into the championships, Vermont has seven runners ranked in the top 10 in different events. Sophia Filali is seventh in the 500. Gilmore has the third, fourth, and ninth fastest times in the 3000, 1000 & mile, and 5000, respectively. Grace McHenry, Makenna Alden, Isabella Fryer, Kayla Myers, and Genevive Brzoza all have top-10 marks as well.
At last year's championship, Myers won the pentathlon, marking the second straight year a Catamount has won the title. Rachel Barba was the other Vermont woman to earn all-conference honors.
Last year, the Catamounts placed sixth with 50 points. Myers, Barba, Clare Kelly, Lily Porth, the distance medley relay team, Brzoza, Ryleigh Garrow, Gabby Rausa, Alden, and the women's 4x400 relay team were the point scorers.

VERMONT MEN OUTLOOK

Alex Siaton and Kyle Hoffman won last time out. Siaton won the 60 meters and 400 meters, while Hoffman won the 500 meters at the Big Apple Invitational.
Hoffman, Siaton, Kenneth Morrissey, and James Cilwik all own top-10 times in the America East. Siaton ranks fifth in the 60 meters and sixth in the 200 and 400 meters. Hoffman ranks ninth in the 500, Morrissey is fourth in the 1000 and sixth in the 800. Cilwik is seventh in the 1000.
Siaton was the lone Vermont man to earn all-conference honors last year.
The Catamounts finished eighth last year with 18 points. Jacob Schindler, distance medley relay team, Finn Patenaude, Siaton, Morrissey, Jackson Baker, 4x800 relay team, and Cameron Kirn all scored points.
