Men's Lacrosse Travels to NJIT for Saturday's Conference Matchup

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Vermont (3-4, 1-1 AE) will travel to NJIT (1-6, 0-1 AE) on Saturday March 29. The game will begin at 1p.m. ET and will be streamed live on ESPN+.

VERMONT OUTLOOK
  • The Catamounts picked up their first conference win by defeating Bryant, 16-12 last Saturday on Virtue.
  • Max Frattaroli led the scoring for Vermont with a career high six goals. Zach Davis and Kean Paré each had two goals as the three Catamounts with multiple goals.
  • Luke Reiter led Vermont in sharing the ball with four assists. Cullen Decker three while Frattaroli and Jack Combs each had an assist as the Catamounts tied their season high in assists with nine.
  • Sophomore Walter Zhao went 11-14 from the faceoff spot and grabbed eight ground balls. Zhao combined with Henry Dodge to go 20-30 as the two combine to be the top faceoff unit in the country winning 67.9% of their faceoffs.
  • Dodge ranks second nationally in faceoff percentage at 70.2% and third in ground balls at 9.29. The numbers are both the best in the America East.
  • Frattaroli and Zhao earned America East weekly honors for their performances against Bryant.
  • Vermont is 6-0 all time against the Highlanders including a 12-9 win over NJIT last year on Virtue. Charlie Pope led the offense that day with five goals, while Brock Haley and Reiter were second with three points each.
  • Matthew Drimmie is the Catamounts leading scorer with 10 goals. Tristan Whitaker is second with nine and Reiter is third with seven.
  • Reiter is Vermont's top distributor with 11 assists. Decker is second with eight assists and Drimmie is third with five.
  • Ryan Daly has posted 10.77 goals against average and .516 save percentage in seven games this season.
 
SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
  • NJIT comes into Saturday having lost two straight including their conference opener last weekend to Binghamton, 9-4. The Highlanders lone win this season was a 12-11 win over Wagner.
  • JC Echezuria leads NJIT in goals and assists with nine and six on the season so far, respectively.
  • Christopher Eiselein is second in goals with seven while Russell Maher and Alystair Hemberger are tied for third with six.
  • The Highlanders have three tied for second in assists with three and three tied for third in assists with two.
  • Joey Schwarz and Cameron Kurdyla have shared time in net this season with Kurdyla starting the first four games this season, and Schwarz starting the last three. Kurdyla has a goals against average of 15.47 and save percentage of .370. Schwarz has a goals against average of 11.79 and a .493 save percentage. He earned America East goalie of the week for his 15 save performance in NJIT's loss to Binghamton.
