BURLINGTON, Vt. – No. 7 Vermont (2-0-1) will host Holy Cross (0-2-1, Patriot League) at Virtue Field on Tuesday, Sept. 1 during the team's annual Pep Rally presented by TD Bank. Kickoff for the non-conference bout is slated for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Brian McLaughlin on the call. Tuesday's match against the Crusaders will be the final match of a four-match homestand for the Catamounts.

VERMONT OUTLOOK

• The Catamounts most recently went up against No. 18 Charlotte, battling to a 2-2 draw in front of a sold-out Virtue Field. Niklas Herceg tied a career high making seven saves while Shalom Adja scored his first career goal in the Green and Gold. Pieter Bultman also added a tally for Vermont notching his second career goal with the Catamounts.
• Vermont holds a 5-2-0 all-time record over Holy Cross. The last meeting between the two programs came in 2019 in Worcester, MA when UVM downed the Crusaders 5-1. Tuesday's matchup will be the first time Vermont and Holy Cross have gone head-to-head in Burlington since 2001.
• So far this season in the America East, Vermont ranks second in shots on goal (22), first in total points (26), tied for first in goals (8), first in assists (10), tied for second in Goals Against average per game (1.00), and second in saves (13).
• David Ismail leads the conference in points (7) with three goals and one assist and is tied for the league lead in goals (3).
• Islam Houssni leads the league in assists (3). Vermont is the only school in America East that has three players with multiple assists. Houssni (3), Noel Bjork (2), and Luis Fischer (2).
• Vermont is one of two schools in America East that has six players on the squad thus far that have recorded at least one goal (UMBC also has six players with at least one goal).
• The Catamounts have scored first in all three matches so far this season and have never trailed in a contest.

 
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS

• Holy Cross comes to Virtue Field holding a 0-2-1 record, seeking its first win of the season. The Crusaders dropped their season opener 5-0 to Northeastern followed by a 2-2 tie against Merrimack. Most recently Holy Cross fell 2-1 at Rhode Island.
• The Crusaders are led by sophomore Archie Hatcher who was named the 2025 Patriot League Rookie of the Year and earned second team All-Patriot League honors last season. So far in 2026, Hatcher has scored two goals for Holy Cross, leading his squad in that department.
• Holy Cross returns 21 players from their 2025 roster while welcoming seven first-year players.
• First-year Jude Jakes-McKay has tallied two assists so far this season, leading his team in that category.
• In the Patriot League Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Crusaders were selected to finish 10th (last), receiving 14 total points.
