NEWRY/RUMFORD, Maine – The Vermont ski team opened the 2015 season with a 60-point victory over Dartmouth at the Bates Carnival that wrapped up on Saturday. The Catamounts have won 16 straight carnivals after going unbeaten on the EISA Circuit last year.

Complete Results At Sunday River, UVM took the top spot in each slalom race.
Kristina Riis-Johannessen, the defending NCAA Slalom Champion, won her first race of the season and eight of her career with a two-run time of 1:47.12. Riis-Johannessen had the fastest time down the hill in the second run (53.49).
Senior
Elli Terwiel placed sixth and sophomore
Brittany Lathrop was eighth, marking Lathrop's first top-10 finish in a collegiate race, to round out the scoring skiers for UVM.
Newcomer
Gaby Coulet won the men's slalom for his first collegiate victory and the Catamounts took four of the top five spots in the race. Coulet posted a time of 1:44.75.
Bobby Farrell posted the fastest second run of the day to finish third overall. Farrell, who missed all of last year with an injury, earned his eighth podium appearance of his career. Teammates

Griffin Brown finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
At Black Mountain, the women's Nordic team placed five skiers among the top-15 finishers in the 5K Freestyle.
Alayna Sonnesyn paced the Catamounts for the second straight day, finishing fourth with a time of 14:20.3.
MK Cirelli was sixth and
Marion Woods placed eighth overall.
In the men's 10K Freestyle,
Jorgen Grav led UVM with a fifth place finish and time of 24:19.2.
Jack Hegman was eighth and
Cole Morgan was 12th.
Both Nordic teams finished second in the team standings for each event.
The Catamounts will host the UVM Carnival next weekend (January 23-24) at the Stowe Mountain Resort and Trapp Family Lodge.
