MIDWAY, UT. – On the first day of Nordic competition at the 2026 NCAA Skiing Championships
Haley Brewster and
Tabor Greenberg were the Catamounts top-finishers with both earning top 15 placements from Soldier Hollow Nordic Center on Thursday racing the 7.5k Classic interval start. Host school Utah took the overall lead after day two with 299.5 points while Colorado sits in second with 288 total points. Vermont is currently in eighth with 109 total points.

Greenberg was the first skier in the field to begin the day wearing bib No. 1 in his NCAA Championships debut, placing 13th overall for UVM in the 7.5k Classic interval start with a time of 19:22.8. He was just 10.2 seconds away from earning All-America honors for the first time in his career. Dartmouth's John Hagenbuch won the national title with a time of 18:25.3, finishing 5.3 seconds faster than Utah's Mons Melbye who finished second.
Ruben Kretzschmar earned 16 points for the Catamounts placing 15th with a time of 19:44.7 in his NCAA Championships debut.
Petter Bakken placed 21st for Vermont with a time of 20:01.5, earning 9.5 points for the Catamounts in his second career NCAA Championships.
Brewster placed 15th for Vermont in the 7.5k Classic interval start with a time of 28:05.1, earning 16 points for UVM in her third NCAA Championships. Alaska Fairbanks' Rosie Fordham won the national title, racing to first place with a time of 24:08.0. First-Year
Lena Poduska made her NCAA Championships debut on Thursday, finishing in 23rd with a time of 29:06.8, earning 8 points for the Catamounts.
Kristin Maltun Helland raced to 33rd place with a time of 30:36.8 in her second career NCAA Championships.
The Alpine portion of the NCAA Championships will wrap up tomorrow with the men's and women's slalom from Spencer F. Eccles Olympic Mountain Center in Park City, UT. The action will be streamed live on NCAA.com with racing beginning at 11 a.m.
