STOWE, Vt. – The Vermont ski team won its own carnival for the third straight year and fourth time in five seasons on Saturday. The Catamounts earned first place in the team standings for the men's slalom, women's slalom and women's 5K classic races to pile up 940 points.
Dartmouth placed second with 885 points and New Hampshire followed in third place with 782 points.

Women's 10K Classic Results (.pdf)On the Main Street course at Stowe Mountain Resort the men's alpine team dominated the slalom race. The Catamounts swept the podium and took the first four spots, while placing five skiers among the top seven racers.
Dom Garand posted two impressive runs to capture first place. He was the only skier with two runs under 55 seconds, recording a time of 54.28 on the first time down the hill and 54.69 on his second run for a combined time of 1:48.97.
Newcomer
Will St. Germain was second with a time of 1:50.61 and
Taylor Wunsch completed the podium sweep for the Catamounts with a time of 1:51.41 for third place.
Bobby Farrell finished fourth (1:51.60) and
Gaby Coulet was seventh overall with a time of 1:52.77.
In the women's slalom race, Vermont skiers went 2-4-5-6, led by
Kristina Riis-Johannessen's second place finish (1:56.06). Riis-Johannessen,
Laurence St. Germain (4th) and
Elli Terwiel (5th) were three of four skiers to post a second run time under a minute.
Lizzie Kistler of Dartmouth won the women's slalom race with a time of 1:54.94 and Mardene Haskell of Colby rounded out the podium with a third place finish (1:56.97).
The classic races were held at Trapp Family Lodge. Newcomer
MK Cirelli led Vermont in the women's 10K race. She finished second overall with a time of 33:00.3.
Stephanie Kirk (10th) and
Alayna Sonnesyn (13th) rounded out the top three scoring skiers for the Catamounts.
New Hampshire's Annika Taylor won the race with a time of 32:36.3 and Corey Stock of Dartmouth placed third (33:21.9) to join Cirelli on the podium.
In the men's 15K race, newcomer
Tobias Trenkle earned his first career podium appearance, placing third overall with a time of 41:57.2.
Jack Hegman finished fourth (41:58.9) and
Cole Morgan and
Ben Hegman were 14-15 for the Catamounts.
Patrick Caldwell and Silas Talbot of Dartmouth finished 1-2 to accompany Trenkle on the podium.
The EISA Circuit remains in Vermont next weekend with the Saint Michael's Carnival on January 30-31. The Nordic events will be held at Sleepy Hollow Inn in Huntington, Vermont and the alpine races are set for Smugglers' Notch Resort in Jeffersonville, Vermont.
