SWIMMING & DIVING NOTEBOOKVermont competes in a pair of meets this weekend against Northeast Conference opponents as it travels to Central Connecticut State on Saturday (Nov. 14) and hosts Bryant on Sunday (Nov. 15). Both meets are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. The Bryant meet on Sunday will be streamed live for free at AmericaEast.TV as UVM hosts its Rally Against Cancer Meet presented by Otter Creek Awnings and Vermont Custom Closets. The Catamounts will wear pink swim caps in support of the UVM Cancer Center.

The Catamounts improved to 3-2 with their second straight 70-point victory at home. Cowley posted a time of 1:05.18 in the 100 breast to win the event by more than a second over
Haley Gula (1:06.19). Cowley (2:23.91) and Gula (2:24.62) were also tight 1-2 finishers in the 200 breast for Vermont.

SCOUTING CCSUCentral Connecticut posted a dominant 192-108 home victory over Bryant last Friday at Suydam Natatorium. The Blue Devils won 12 of the 14 swimming events on the night to post their first home victory of the season. CCSU fell to New Hampshire 158-142 on Oct. 31 in its only loss of the season. Central Connecticut won the 2015 Northeast Conference Championships with 301 points on the final day of competition to secure the victory over Wagner 837-813.
SCOUTING BRYANTBryant enters the meet on Sunday at 2-4 after a loss at Central Connecticut last Friday. The Bulldogs have earned home wins over Providence and Iona this season, but suffered defeats against Boston College, Colgate, and Wagner. Valeria Watson claimed three different events against Iona, winning the 200 free, 200 back and 500 free. Bryant closed last year's NEC Championships with 587 points for third place overall.Â
PRESTON EARNS THIRD HONORFor the third time this season, senior
Maggie Preston was named the America East Diver of the Week as the conference announced its weekly award winners on Tuesday. The West Hartford, Connecticut native has also won the weekly diving award in back-to-back weeks. Preston dominated her diving events for the fourth straight meet on Saturday in the home win over Maine. Preston took both events, winning the 1-meter with a score of 240.82 and the 3-meter with 247.57.
WHO'S NEXTVermont hits the road next weekend to compete in the Terrier Invitational from Friday, Nov. 20 to Sunday, Nov. 22. Competition is set to begin at 10 a.m. each day at Competition Pool in Boston.
