The Black Bears are 0-2 on the year after road losses to Rhode Island and Bryant on the weekend of Oct. 21-22. Last year, Maine went 2-2 in dual meets and finished fourth overall at the America East Championships with 448 total points. Maine hosted Vermont two seasons ago as the Catamounts came away with a 172-128 road victory. Susan Lizzotte is in her fifth year as the head coach of the program and her 14th overall season as a coach at the school. Maine has lost six straight to UVM and returns to Rhode Island in two weekends for the URI Invitational.
NATIONAL MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY
The team took part in National Make a Difference Day on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Winooski Senior Center. Student-athletes spent time with the Winooski community as they carved pumpkins in hopes of helping the community to reach their goal of 800 or more carved pumpkins for the annual Festival of Pumpkins in Downtown Winooski. National Make a Difference Day was created by USA Weekend Magazine in 1992 and takes place on the fourth Saturday in October. USA Weekend Magazine was later joined by Points of Light and together have sponsored the largest national day of community service for more than twenty years.
