BURLINGTON, Vt. – University of Vermont ski team alum Cole Morgan was one of 17 athletes named to the U.S. Nordic World Championship Cross Country Team that will compete in the International Ski Federation's 2017 Nordic World Ski Championships next month in Lahti, Finland.

Morgan will be making his first appearance with the World Championship Team. Earlier in the week, Morgan was selected to the U23 World Championship Team after finishing fourth in the classic sprint race at the U.S. Cross Country Championships on Jan. 8.
Competition opens on Thursday, Feb. 23 with the freestyle sprint – the strongest event of the Championships for the United States. Action continues Saturday, Feb. 25 with the multi-technique skiathlon.
The mid-distance events will be classic 15K races for the squad. On March 3, the team will race in a 4×10K relay. The Championships conclude March 4-5 with a 50K men's freestyle mass start.
