BINGHAMTON RECAP
UVM earned a 165-97 victory over America East rival Binghamton last Saturday afternoon at NJIT in New Jersey to begin the regular season. The divers had their meet against the Bearcats at RPI cancelled.Â

Kelly Lennon opened the meet by winning the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:00.39. Lennon was also an individual champion in the 200 and 500 freestyle as the Catamounts combined to win nine events against Binghamton.Â
Jess Gorham (59.56), Hancock (1:00.05), andÂ
Morgan Montgomery (1:01.23) went 1-2-3 in the 100 backstroke, and Montgomery,
Dani Rocheleau, and Gorham later went 1-2-3 in a different order in the 200 back.Â
Shannon Cowley was the champion of both the 100 (1:07.90) and 200 (2:26.92) breaststroke, whileÂ
Sierra Sexton won the 50 free in 24.75 seconds and placed second in the 100 free in 54.48 with Hancock in third (54.57).Â
LAST YEAR AGAINST UNH | Highlights
Vermont led from start to finish and posted a 50-point victory over New Hampshire (175-125) last season at Forbush Natatorium. The Catamounts swept the individual breaststroke (Cowley) and backstroke (Rocheleau and Montgomery) events, while
Alexy Novelli was the individual winner of the 100 butterfly. UNH's Liza Baykova set a pair of pool records at the meet, winning both the 100 free (50.90) and 200 free (1:51.21). UVM and New Hampshire have traded home wins in each of the last four seasons.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
New Hampshire lost its first three meets last season but won its final five to finish at 5-3 (2-1 AE). The Wildcats earned a second place finish at the America East Championships with 717.5 points over the four-day event. Baykova won three individual gold medals while also helping UNH claim gold in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Josh Willman has coached the program for nearly a quarter century as he enters his 24th season in 2017-18. Saturday will be the season-opener for Willman's squad at Swasey Pool.Â

Vermont has a pair of meets next weekend, beginning with the home opener against Stony Brook on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 12 p.m. Live video is available for free via CatamounTV.com. The Catamounts then hit the road to face UMass on Sunday, Oct. 22 for a 1 p.m. dual meet.Â
