MAINE RECAP |Â
Highlights
The Catamounts were dominant from start to finish on Saturday, earning a convincing America East victory over Maine in the team's annual Rally Against Cancer Meet presented by Otter Creek Awnings and Vermont Custom Closets.
Shannon Cowley led the way individually, claiming both the 100 breast (1:05.48) and 200 breast (2:25.56), withÂ
Haley Gula collecting second place in the 100 in 1:06.97.
Kelly Lennon took the 1000-yard freestyle by nearly five seconds over teammateÂ
Kristina Posnick with a winning time of 10:41.20, and later won the 500 free in 5:15.55. Fellow senior captain
Kira Hancock also claimed victory in a pair of individual events as she won the 50 free (24.50) and 100 free (53.63), the latter overÂ
Sierra Sexton andÂ
Emily McCormack.
LAST YEAR AGAINST BRYANT
Vermont traveled to the the Chace Athletic Center Pool and posted a 71-point road victory last season over Bryant. The Catamounts won 12 events on the day, led by multiple wins from Lennon and Sarah Mantz. Two seasons ago, UVM earned a 172-120 victory against the Bulldogs in Burlington while setting a new pool record in the 200-yard medley relay. The squads will be meeting for the 10th time overall on Sunday at Forbush.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Bryant is 4-2 through six dual meets but is hitting the road for just the second time this season after going 3-1 in its first four home meets. The Bulldogs split against NEC rivals Central Connecticut and Wagner last weekend, beating the defending champion CCSU Blue Devils for the first time since 2012 by a score of 204-147. Bryant finished second at last year's NEC Championships behind Central with a total of 605 points as Chuck LoCurto was named the NEC Diving Coach of the Year for the second-straight year. Katie Cameron is in her 13th season as the Bulldogs' head coach and has been leading the program since its inception.Â
WHO'S NEXT
Vermont is on the road next weekend to compete in the annual BU Invitational from Friday to Sunday (Nov. 17-19) in Boston. UVM will be competing against Army, Bridgeport, Boston College, host Boston University, Colgate, UMass, and New Hampshire.
