LAST TIME OUT
In Baltimore last Saturday, Vermont cruised to a 139-110 victory over Howard, but fell to defending America East Champion UMBC 194-96 in a double dual meet to begin the second half of the season. Cowley claimed Vermont's only victory of the meet, winning the 200 breast (2:27.76) by two-hundredths of a second. Cowley also finished second in the 100 breast (1:07.06). RookieÂ
Emily Murphy registered a pair of second-place finishes in the 1-meter (210.70) and 3-meter (225.70) diving events.Â
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
Northeastern is 3-1 in dual meets this season and 0-1 against Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) competition. The Huskies, whose last meet was a 21-point victory over America East squad New Hampshire on the road on Dec. 2, will compete for the first time since their winter training trip in Ireland. NU also has wins this season over Wagner and Boston University, but fell to conference rival James Madison.
Sophomore Megan Clark had a record-breaking weekend at Rutgers' Frank Elm Invitational in November, setting three school records and collecting two first place finishes. She has earned CAA weekly honors twice this season for the Huskies. Roy Coates is in his 25th season as the head coach at Northeastern, while former UVM standout and two-year captain Lauren Colby '12 is in her fourth year as the team's diving coach.Â
INSIDE THE MATCHUP
Two years ago, Vermont fell to Northeastern on Senior Day 155-145 in a tightly contested meet in Burlington.
The Huskies set a pool record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:45.46 to begin the competition, and NU's Sara Touchette-McGowan finished the 100 butterfly in 55.47 seconds for another pool mark. The previously undefeated Catamounts lost to the Huskies last season in Boston for their first and only defeat of the season.
