BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Catamounts won two individual events as well as the final relay despite suffering a 182-118 loss to Northeastern on Senior Day at Forbush Natatorium on Saturday.Â

Vermont's Gorham, Cowley, Rocheleau and Hancock began the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay, touching the wall in 1:46.47. Northeastern won the event in 1:45.43, narrowly breaking its own pool record of 1:45.46 set back in 2016.

A pair of Catamounts swam away with individual victories in their final home meet of the season. Rocheleau was victorious in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:07.29 while
Haley Gula took the top spot in the 200 breaststroke in 2:26.13.

Hancock raced to a pair of second-place finishes, stopping the clock in 24.34 in the 50 freestyle and 53.33 in the 100 freestyle. Northeastern sophomore Megan Clark set a new Forbush Natatorium pool record of 23.66 in the 50, breaking the old mark of 23.85.

Sierra Sexton placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:57.12) while
Kristina Posnick took third in 1:57.26. Posnick later finished second in the 500 freestyle in 5:14.39, followed closely by Lennon (5:14.51). Lennon also registered a second-place finish in the 1000 freestyle (10:42.95).Â

Cowley finished in 1:06.33 to take second in the 100 breaststroke, over a second and a half ahead of Gula who took third in 1:08.00. Rookie
Vivian Nguyen swam to second in the 100 butterfly (58.61) while junior
Colleen Driscoll also finished second in a close 400 Individual Medley (4:37.71).

Hancock, Lennon,
Emily McCormack and Sexton concluded the meet by combining to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:32.27.
In the diving events,
Emily Murphy placed second in the 1-meter with a final score of 238.12, while
Ashley Branagan had the team's top score of 227.02 in the 3-meter for fourth place.Â

The Catamounts will compete in their final dual meet of the season next Saturday (Jan. 20) at Rhode Island beginning at 12 p.m. as they prepare for the America East Championships on Feb. 15-18.
