HUNTINGTON, Vt. – The UVM Nordic team won its second straight EISA carnival after taking home the St. Michael's Carnival crown on Sunday. The Catamounts cruised to the victory with 483 points. The races were hosted at Sleepy Hollow.

Nordic Day 2 Highlights (India Harvey)
Alayna Sonnesyn picked up her third victory of the young season after winning the women's 10K freestyle race. Sonnesyn finished with an overall time of 28:39.8, ahead of Dartmouth's Lydia Blanchet in second place at 28:48.8.
Lina Sutro grabbed the final spot on the podium in third place at 28:51.8.
In the men's 15K freestyle race,
Finn O'Connell earned his second podium finish of the year after placing third overall at 38:32.3.
Juri Miosga followed in fourth place at 38:43.3 and
Cully Brown cracked the top-10 in seventh place with an official time of 39:11.6.
In the team standings, UVM's 483 points topped the field as Dartmouth followed in second place with 437 points. Middlebury posted a third-place finish with 407 points. Bowdoin came in fourth place with 306 points and New Hampshire rounded out the top-five with 280 points.
The UVM Alpine team wrapped up the Colby Carnival at Sugarloaf on Sunday with the giant slalom races.
Sandy Vietze won the men's race with a combined time of 1:59.39.
Max Roeisland claimed sixth place with an overall time of 2:01.70.
Griffin Brown and
David Frisk added a pair of top-10 finishes for the Cats. Brown placed eighth at 2:02.49 and Frisk followed in ninth place at 2:02.96.
In the women's giant slalom race,
Paula Moltzan came in fourth place at 2:05.44, just missing a spot on the podium by 14-one hundredths of a second.
Madison Irwin finished in seventh place at 2:07:23 and
Francesca English earned a top-10 finish in ninth place at 2:08.03.
With the combined results from Nordic last weekend, Vermont finished second in the team standings at the Colby Carnival with 719 points. Dartmouth won the event with 727 points while Middlebury claimed third place with 553 points.
With the win, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual have donated another $100 to the Boys and Girls Club of Burlington, bringing this year's total to 77 wins and $7,700 donated.
The Alpine team returns to the slopes on Friday (Jan. 26) and Saturday (Jan. 27) for the St. Michael's Carnival at Smuggler's Notch.
