LAKE PLACID, N.Y. –
Ben Ogden and
Lina Sutro won the men's and women's 10k Classic to lead Vermont to its first carnival win of the season as the Catamounts claimed four of the six podium spots to come from behind and surpass Dartmouth. Vermont finished the opening carnival of the EISA circuit with 895 points, 30 ahead of the Big Green.

After claiming a win in his first collegiate start yesterday Ogden was back at again today for the green and gold. His first 5k was the fastest in the field in 13:59.8 on the way to a first-place finish with a time of 28:47.2.
For the second straight day Ogden's teammate
Bill Harmeyer was second overall. Harmeyer finished the 10k race in a time of 28:55.1. Ogden and Harmeyer were the only two competitors in the field to finish the race in under 29 minutes.
Henry Harmeyer finished fourth overall for Vermont in a time of 29:34.3. The fourth-place finish matches the best he had ever done in an EISA race.
Karl Schulz (5th), Matias Ovrum (6th),
Ian Moore (11th),
Finn O'Connell (12th), and
Juri Miosga (13th) all finished in the top-15 for Vermont.
Sutro won her second straight EISA race with a time of 34:30.7 Sunday morning. Sutro completed the first 5k of the race 14-seconds faster than the second-place finisher Annika Landis from Middlebury.
Margie Freed earned her first career EISA podium with a third-place finish in a time of 34:41.2. In her first weekend competing for the Catamounts sophomore
Anna Bizyukova finished in a time of 35:40.6 good for seventh overall. Mackenzie Rizio (9th) and
Lizzie Larkins (10th) also earned top-ten finishes for Vermont.
Vermont skiers claimed 11 of the top-10 positions in the men's and women's races Sunday. Over the course of the weekend Vermont claimed exactly half of the top-10 positions in the four Nordic races.
The Vermont alpine and Nordic squads are back in action next weekend at the UNH Carnival with races on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 18-19). Alpine races will be held at Cannon Mountain in Franconia, N.H., while the Nordic team will be in action at the Jackson Ski Touring Foundation.
