SKIING NOTEBOOK
After winning the season-opening St. Lawrence Carnival last week the Catamounts return to action at the UNH Carnival this weekend. The Nordic and alpine teams will be in action Friday and Saturday. Nordic competition will be at the Jackson Ski Touring Foundation, alpine races will be at Cannon Mountain in Franconia, NH.

NORDIC DOMINATION IN THE EMPIRE STATE
Vermont's Nordic team was outstanding in the opening weekend of the 2019 campaign. Vermont skiers claimed 11 of the top-10 positions in the men's and women's 10k Classic races last Sunday. Over the course of the weekend Vermont claimed exactly half of the top-10 positions in the four Nordic races.

MOLTZAN STAYS HOT
After finishing a career-best 12th overall in the FIS World Cup slalom in Flachau, Austria on January 8 Moltzan claimed the first slalom of the 2019 season. Her first and second run times were the fastest in the field as she claimed her eighth straight slalom title on the EISA circuit. Her combined time of 1:34.18 was a full second ahead of the second-place finisher Emma Woodhouse from UNH.

FOND MEMORIES IN NEW HAMPSHIRE
New Hampshire hosted the 2017 NCAA Ski Championships at the same venues UVM will compete at this weekend.
Paula Moltzan became the fifth UVM female to win the individual slalom national title in Franconia. She was the first freshman to do so since 1986.
Ian Moore received NCAA Second Team All-American honors finishing ninth overall in the men's 10k Classic.

OGDEN AND SUTRO HEADED TO FINLAND
After sweeping both Nordic races last weekend in New York Vermont's
Ben Ogden and
Lina Sutro are in Lahti, Finland for the World Junior Championships. Sutro will represent the U.S. at the FIS U-23 World Ski Championships Cross-Country. SAVE THE DATE – UVM CARNIVAL
The UVM Carnival is scheduled for Feb. 1-2 in Stowe, Vermont. The alpine races will take place at Stowe Mountain Resort while the Nordic races will be held at the Trapp Family Lodge. Mark your calendars to cheer on the Catamounts.

2019 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE BACK IN STOWE
This March the University of Vermont will be hosting the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2011. Competition will run Wednesday, March 6 through Saturday, March 9. Like the UVM Carnival alpine races will take place at Stowe Mountain Resort while the Nordic races will be held at Trapp Family Lodge.
