MEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
The Vermont Catamounts (1-9-2, 0-6-1 HEA) close the first semester with a Hockey East road series against the UConn Huskies (5-6-3, 2-4-2 HEA) on Friday (Dec. 6) and Saturday Dec. 7) at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 3:35 p.m. Both games will stream on CBS All-Access. The voice of the Catamounts, Michael Lehr, is on the call on WVMT and through UVMAthletics.com.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
The Huskies are 5-6-3 in 2019-20 and 3-1-2 in their last six games since being swept by BC. UConn took a tie in a series with Providence (Nov. 22-23) and went 1-0-1 against UMass Lowell (Nov. 15-16) before sweeping Miami last weekend.

UConn has seven NHL draft picks on the roster, three freshmen and four sophomores. The seven picks are tied for eighth most in the country with several schools: Denver, Michigan, Minnesota-Duluth, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Providence.

The Husky offense ranks sixth in Hockey East and is tied for 29th nationally with 2.71 goals per game. With 3.36 goals against per game, UConn's defense ranks 10th in Hockey East and is tied for 46th in the country.

Fourteen Huskies have four or more points through 14 games. Sophomore Jáchym Kondelík and senior Benjamin Freeman lead the Huskies in scoring this season with 10 points apiece. Kondelík leads the team in goals (5) and Freeman leads the team in assists (7).

Sophomore Tomáš Vomácka has spent the bulk of the season between the pipe and currently he holds a .897 save percentage and a 3.36 goals against average.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont was 21-2-1 all-time against UConn through the series' first 24 games played. Â Since the start of the 2017-18 season, UConn has won five of eight games. Vermont is 9-6-0 against UConn under

ACE IN THE HOLE
Junior
Ace Cowans scored Vermont's lone goal in a 2-1 series-opening loss at ASU (Nov. 29). Â He added his first career power play goal on Saturday (Nov. 30) for his first multi-goal weekend. His five shots on goal on Saturday also marked a career-best.

VLAD THE IMPALER
After assisting on Cowans' goal Friday (Nov. 29), junior
Vlad Dzhioshvili added a goal and assist on Saturday (Nov. 30). Dzhioshvili matched career-highs in goals, assists, points, and added two blocked shots for another career-best Saturday. It also marked the first points of the season for the junior, who broke through in Tempe.

Derek Lodermeier is tied for ninth in Hockey East with a 57.1% success rate at the faceoff dot (132-231). He ranks 47th in the country.
