WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Emily Murphy finished fourth in the three-meter dive with a score of 213.35 in the first day of the 2019 America East Championship, hosted by WPI in Worcester, Massachusetts.
 
Vermont sits in fourth place through day one of competition with 86 total points. New Hampshire (123), UMBC (105), and Binghamton (89) are ahead of Vermont. Maine (79), Stony Brook (53), and VMI (48) round out the team scores through the first day.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Murphy posted a preliminary score of 218.15 before a final score of 213.35 to place fourth, narrowly missing All-Conference recognition.
• The 800 free relay team of Sierra Sexton, Sophia Smith, Maddy Kovacs, and Kristina Posnick posted a time of 7:32.36 to finish fourth.
• Sexton, Kendall Ware, Haley Gula, and Kira Parker finished the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:44.01 to finish fifth overall.

Vermont continues the America East Championships tomorrow morning with day two of competition at WPI. The day's events begin at 10 a.m. with the men's three-meter dive before the 500 yard freestyles.
