HANCOCK, Vt. –
Karl Schulz and
Lina Sutro won the freestyle races as the Catamounts wrapped up action in the 96th annual Middlebury College Carnival Saturday. The Catamounts finished in third place with 875 points, 40 points behind the host Middlebury who won a EISA Carnival for the first time since 2008.

The Catamounts secured three of the top four spots in the Men's 10k Freestyle.
Karl Schulz won the race in a time of 22:11.2, exactly nine seconds ahead of his teammate
Bill Harmeyer.
Finn O'Connell was the Catamounts final scorer, placing fourth overall in a time of 22:26.5.
Lina Sutro claimed her second podium of the weekend placing first overall in a time of 12:51.5. She finished 4.8 seconds ahead of Dartmouths Katharine Ogden. Next for the Catamounts was
Margie Freed, who came in with a time of 13:21.7 to place fifth overall. The Catamounts final scorer was
Jenny Pedersen who placed 13th overall in a time of 13:53.2.
In the women's giant slalom the Catamounts earned three of the top five positions.
Francesca English, who won the GS at the Vermont Carnival, placed second overall with a combined time of 2:13:10. Her second run time of 1:07.77 was the fastest in the field. Next for the Catamounts was
Josefine Selvaag, who came in with a combined time of 2:13.29 to place fourth overall.
Mille Graesdal finished right behind Selvaag in fifth place one-hundredth of a second later with a combined time of 2:13.30.
Patrick McConville paced the Catamounts in eighth place in the men's giant slalom, coming in with a time of 2:07.26. Vermont's
Raphael Quenneville finished in 11th place, earning a two-run time of 2:07.58. Quenneville's first run time of 1:01.89 was the fifth fastest in the field. Rounding out the Vermont scorers was
David Frisk, who came in 13th overall with a time of 2:07.69.
The Catamounts alpine skiers return to the Dartmouth Skiway tomorrow to race the giant slalom that was postponed from the Dartmouth Carnival last weekend as an NCAA qualifying event. Next weekend, Vermont's alpine and Nordic squads will compete in the NCAA East Regional and EISA Championships hosted by Bates College on Friday and Saturday.
