WORCESTER, Mass. – Sixteen Catamounts made it back to finals on day three of the 2019 America East Championship, including seven A-final appearances.
After three full days of competition, Vermont moves up to third place in the team standings with 353 points behind UMBC (604.5) and New Hampshire (529).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Brenna Cetrone dove to sixth on the 1-meter board, posting a final score of 208.70 to kick off the night.
- Katie Rivers competed in the A-final of the 400 IM, finishing seventh with a time of 4:31.65. Colleen Driscoll (4:32.99) took 11th and Kendall Ware (4:35.63) placed 13th in the B-final.
- Julia DeGregorio flew to sixth in the 100 fly, getting her hands to the wall in 56.83, ahead of Laura Pringle, who placed eighth in 58.46. Vivian Nguyen (59.43) posted a 13th-place showing in the B-final.
- A pair of Cats competed in the championship heat of the 200 free as Sierra Sexton (1:52.36) and Sophia Smith (1:52.92) finished fifth and eighth, respectively. The B-final saw Kristina Posnick (1:54.65) in ninth and Maddy Kovacs (1:56.34) in 13th.
- 1:05.58 was fast enough for seventh place for Haley Gula in the 100 breast, while Sara Meyer (1:07.53) took 12th and Peyton Lienhart (1:09.56) finished 13th.
- Morgan Montgomery powered her way to a 10th-place showing in the 100 back in 57.97. Pringle (59.09) finished 13th overall followed closely by Kira Parker (59.78) in 14th.
- The 400 medley relay of Montgomery (58.17), Gula (1:06.09), DeGregorio (56.92) and Parker (52.02) capped off the night with a fourth-place finish in 3:53.20.
UP NEXT
The Cats return to WPI for the fourth day of competition starting at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. The final day of America East Championship action will see the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 1650 free and 400 free relay.
