HANOVER, N.H. – The Catamounts men's and women's squads claimed the 3x5k Classic Relay and
Paula Moltzan won the slalom to lead the Catamounts on day two of the Dartmouth Carnival. After the second day of competition Vermont is in first place with 696 points, 50 points ahead of second-place Dartmouth.

Ben Ogden,
Ian Moore and
Matias Øvrum claimed the men's 3x5k Classic relay with a combined time of 41:54.4. Ogden was the only male skier in the field to finish under 14 minutes, his time of 13:33.2 was the fastest by almost 28 seconds.
The Catamounts second team of
Bill Harmeyer,
Greg Burt and
Juri Miosga finished second overall in a time of 42:16.2. UVM's third team finished third overall with a combined time of 42:24.7. Vermont's third group comprised of
Finn O'Connell,
Karl Schulz and
Henry Harmeyer.
Vermont's trio of
Anna Bizyukova,
Margie Freed and
Lina Sutro won the women's 3x5k Classic relay with a combined time of 48:07.8. Bizyukova skied the first leg in a time of 16:15.8, the second fastest time in the field. Freed skied the second portion in 16:09.6 and Sutro finished the win off for Vermont in the second fastest 5k time of the day 15:42.4. The Catamounts second team of
Jenny Pedersen,
Lizzie Larkins and Mackenzie Rizio finished fourth overall with a combined time of 49:46.4.
After skiing last in Slovenia last weekend on the FIS World Cup circuit Moltzan returned to action for the Catamounts winning the slalom in a combined time of 1:41.79. Moltzan has won nine of the last 11 slalom races on the EISA circuit.
Francesca English was the Catamounts second scorer, she finished 11th overall with a time of 1:45.05.
Mille Graesdal was Vermont's final scorer on the day placing 13th overall with a time of 1:45.50.
For the second straight weekend the Catamounts were led in the men's slalom by
Patrick McConville. The junior finished second overall with a combined time of 1:36.71.
David Frisk was the Catamounts second scorer, he finished 11th overall with a time of 1:38.63.
Spencer Smith was Vermont's final scorer on the day placing 12th overall with a time of 1:38.65.
The 109th Dartmouth Carnival will conclude on Sunday, February 17 with the giant slalom races at the Dartmouth Skiway. The giant slalom races will be held following the Middlebury Carnival which will be held February 15-16. Alpine races will be held at the Middlebury Snow Bowl in Hancock, Vt. while the Nordic team will be in action at the Rikert Nordic Center in Ripton, Vt.
