BOSTON, Mass. – University of Vermont junior
Nick Washuta earned America East Defensive Player of the Week honors for the third time this season after his performance in Vermont's 12-11 double overtime win at UMBC Saturday (Mar. 16).

Ian MacKay '18 for the most in program history. Washuta has received defensive recognition seven times and a rookie of the week honor once.
Washuta made 14 saves and added five ground balls and a caused turnover in the double overtime win. He held the Retrievers to three second half goals and kept them scoreless in the final 15:36 of gameplay. He recorded four saves in the fourth quarter and overtime periods. He earns weekly defensive honors for the second straight season against UMBC.
The Catamounts erased a six goal fourth quarter deficit for the first recorded time in program history. The five UVM goals scored in a 3:06 span were the fastest since the Cats scored five straight in 2:09 in a 2015 matchup against NJIT.
Vermont continues America East conference play as the host against Hartford (1-6, 1-0 AE) at Virtue Field on Saturday (Mar. 23). The game is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. and will stream for free on CatamounTV.
